EALS is pleased to welcome you to its 2010 Annual Conference and General Meeting (AC/AGM) which will take place on November 19-20, 2010 in Bujumbura, Burundi.
The AC/AGM is expected to attract no less than 400 participants from the region. The theme of the conference is "One East Africa: Democracy and Good Governance" EALS shall invite the participation of international speakers of repute. We welcome you to be part of the important annual meeting of EALS.

Registration for the 2010 AC/AGM is USD 200 per delegate. Registration enables you to access the conference sessions and entitles you to a conference bag, networking functions including the gala dinner and reception.
Registration is payable to EALS either directly, or through the national Law Societies (clearly marked EALS AC/AGM 2010.
Participants will make their own transport and accommodation arrangements in line with international best practices (e.g. by the International Bar Association, Commonwealth Lawyers’ Association, Southern African Development Community (SADC) Lawyers’ Association and others). Payment should be in cash or cheques in favour of the East Africa Law Society. This should be accompanied by a duly filled registration form(s).

Bujumbura grew from a small village after it became a military post in German East Africa in 1889. After World War I it was made the administrative center of the Belgian League of Nations mandate of Ruanda-Urundi. The city's name was changed from Usumbura to Bujumbura when Burundi became independent in 1962. Air Burundi, the national airline of Burundi, has its head office in Bujumbura. A number of airlines have daily and weekly flights to Burundi. They include Kenya Airways (KQ), Precision Air, Rwandair and Fly 540 EALS has endeavoured to prepare travel itineraries from the various cities to Bujumbura to assist you with the travel. The costs are likely to change as at time of bookings. Please make your bookings early in good time. Rwandair has offered EALS a 7% discount on the flights. The Conference Programme shall include presentations on various relevant topics of interest. We shall be communicating the theme of the conference and the list of topics soon. Bujumbura is the capital city and main port of Burundi and ships most of the country's chief export, coffee, as well as cotton, skins, and tin ore.The city center is a colonial town with a large market, the national stadium, a large mosque, and the cathedral for the Archdiocese of Bujumbura. Museums in the city include the Burundi Museum of Life and the Burundi Geological Museum. Other nearby attractions include the Rusizi National Park, the Livingstone-Stanley Monument at Mugere (where David Livingstone and Henry Morton Stanley visited 14 days after their first historic meeting at Ujiji in Tanzania), the presidential palace and the source of the southern-most tributary of the Nile, described locally as the source of the Nile. Ferries sail from Bujumbura to Kigoma in Tanzania, while the city is also home to the Bujumbura International Airport and the University of Bujumbura.
